What Tech Equipment is in the Typical Classroom?

Overview

Most teaching classrooms are equipped with:

  • 1 Windows and 1 Macintosh computer
  • Blu-Ray player
  • Projector with sound reinforcemen
  • Additional inputs for laptop, USB, and HDMI devices.

Input Switching on the Podium

Each classroom typically only has 1 projector. To move between different possible sources for what to display -- such as the Mac computer, the Blu-Ray player, or the HDMI (laptop) connection -- each podium console has a switcher. The switcher allows you to select which device is being shown by the monitor on the podium and what the projector shows on the big screen.

All switching is controlled by a push button control panel. These panels are set to operate in a similar manner across the campus.

There are presently two types of controllers to operate the AV equipment in the classroom consoles. The original black-colored control panel with up to four sources, and the new white-colored control panel with up to six sources. For operating instructions, please check the color of the panel in your classrooms and click on the appropriate link below.
