How to remove Skidmore Guest from a MacOS device

The typical member of the Skidmore community should not use Skidmore Guest, as it restricts what kinds of networking tasks you can do. These instructions guide you on how to remove Skidmore Guest from your MacOS computer. Even if you aren't currently using Skidmore Guest, if you connected to it even once in the past, it can remain to haunt your current wifi situation.

  1. Go to System Preferences.
  2. Click on the Network tile.
  3. Be sure that Wifi is selected on the left, and then click on the Advanced button in the bottom right.
  4. In the list of "Preferred Networks", click once on the name "Skidmore Guest". 
  5. Right below the list of networks, you'll see a + and a - button. Click on the - button to remove Skidmore Guest from that list.
  6. Click on the OK button in the bottom right.
  7. Click on the Apply button in the bottom right.
  8. Close System Preferences.
  9. Restart the computer. Critical: this is an essential step. The Skidmore Guest wifi network will not be removed until you restart the computer.
